Gifted Kids

o Capable of learning quickly without a lot of repetition?

If you answered yes to any one of these questions, your child may very well fall in the category of gifted kids. But what does this mean for you and your child? First of all, it is important to understand that gifted kids are also considered special needs because of their unique educational requirements. Knowing this, if you child is considered among the many gifted kids in this world, you will need to make sure that you take a much more active role in his or her educational opportunities. While public schools are a fine place to educate gifted kids, special attention needs to be paid to the amount of mental stimulation and challenges these children receive each and every day. Oftentimes, public school teacher cannot give adequate attention to every child in a classroom, so it is up to you as a parent to fill in any educational gaps that your gifted child may faced with.
And while there are a variety of special programs and educational opportunities for gifted kids, these programs will be most effective when you more involved as a parent.
